Last year saw over 600 people mount their bikes for the CBRE Great Property Bike Ride and this year we’re aiming to beat that target, with 1,000 riders taking to the Surrey Hills.

CBRE Great Property Bike Ride 2015

Riders roll out on the CBRE Great Property Bike Ride 2015

Supported again by our media partner, Property Week, this year’s ride – now going by the name of the World’s Biggest Property Bike Ride – takes place on 23 June and the 25, 50 or 100 km cycle routes are all back! This year also sees the launch of a 5km ride for children to take part in. It’s an event for everyone, regardless of when you last found yourself riding a bike; you can choose your preferred route and are welcome to bring friends and family.

In 2015, the riders raised over £40,000 for Shelter, a charity supporting those who lack the most basic requirement of safe and secure housing. Every year, Shelter assists more than three million people who struggle with inadequate housing or homelessness, while actively campaigning to prevent the problems arising in the first place. Like last year, CBRE will take care of the administration costs for the ride, so all the money raised on the day will go towards to the charity, making it possible for them to continue to make a difference to over 1,000 families around the UK.

Each of the routes encompass at least one of the famous inclines of the Surrey Hills, from the zig-zags of Box Hill, the defibrillator on White Down to reaching the highest point of Surrey at the top of Leith Hill. So, regardless of which route you pick, you will be able to cross the finishing line with full bragging rights and your head held high.

I truly believe it’s a fantastic, sociable event to get involved in, and with just over three months to go there’s still plenty of time to get the bike out of the shed, dust it off and spend weekends in the saddle, getting some miles in your legs!
