As the 2018 World’s Biggest Property Bike Ride draws closer, CBRE’s UK managing director reflects on the previous fantastic four years’ and how the bike ride has become a fixture in the property calendar.

Bike Ride 2017

More than 800 riders were on the start line in Surrey last year

Last year 800 riders took part and this year we are hoping to break the 1,000-rider mark. The World’s Biggest Property Bike Ride is a fantastic challenge and the more people that participate the better, as it’s raising money for a very worthy cause.

Last year, CBRE raised an incredible £46,717 through the event for our charity partner Shelter and this year we are delighted to be raising funds for our new UK charity partner, Action for Children. Over the next two years, CBRE will be working with Action for Children to support more than 700 children in the care system by helping to build a safe and loving environment within their foster homes.

The ride, which takes place on 14 June, will start at Sandown Park in Esher, before hitting the stunning countryside and the leg-testing climbs of the surrey hills. Riders will have the choice to take on the 50km or 100km routes, both giving you the opportunity to test your strength and stamina on the iconic climbs of the Surrey Hills. I will be taking part in the 100km route and took advantage of the glorious weather over the bank holiday weekend to start my training.

Whether you are a cycling expert or a novice, the ride is a fantastic, sociable event, for riders of all levels. And with just over six weeks to go, there’s still plenty of time to get on your bike and spend weekends in the saddle! The money raised from the event will help Action for Children, to continue to make a difference to children in care and their foster families.
