Are you up to the challenge? On Friday 18 September, teams from the property industry will compete in the sixth Annual Property Industry Velodrome Challenge, in aid of international children’s charity ChildHope.

Velodrome challenge

There is still time to register a team to compete across four track-racing disciplines — team pursuit, sprint, Australian pursuit and scratch race. Once again the challenge, held in association with Property Week, will take place at Herne Hill Velodrome in south London. The track was used for the 1948 Olympics and more recently as the training ground for Bradley Wiggins, but participants do not need to have had experience of track racing in order to take part — full training and track bike hire will be provided as part of the package.

Child Hope

So far, the annual cycling event has raised around £50,000. All funds raised this year will go towards supporting ChildHope’s work around the world.

Founded in 1989, ChildHope works to improve the lives of children living on the streets in Africa, Asia and South America. Just £150 would provide a loan for five mothers in Peru to start a business and be able to send their children to school, while £350 could provide shelter, medical care, counselling and legal support for a street child in Bangladesh.

“ChildHope is excited to be hosting the sixth Annual Property Cycling Challenge at Herne Hill Velodrome for what promises to be a fun, adrenaline-fuelled day,” says the charity’s corporate partnerships fundraising manager, Hannah Daft. “Funds raised from the event will support vulnerable children, helping them escape life on the streets and fulfil their potential.”
