Santander’s head of real estate in Scotland is heading south of the border to lead the firm’s London and South East team.

Andy Mallin, who was responsible for Northern Ireland and the North East of England as well as Scotland, has been appointed regional director of London and South East for Santander Corporate & Commercial.

Mallin previously spent 26 years at Lloyds and Bank of Scotland. He will report to Andrew Whelan, managing director of regional real estate finance, who was appointed to the role earlier this year.

Santander has become one of the most active commercial real estate lenders of all the clearing banks. Its commercial real estate arm expanded its loan book last year with £1.8bn of new facilities.
