Commercial property agency Midland IC&I's shares soared as much as 21 per cent yesterday after the company said it expected to return to profit in the first half.

Midland's stock closed at 6.8 HK cents, up 17.24%, a rise of 196% since the start of the year.

Executive director Wong Tsz-wa said increased transactions in the property investment market, particularly during the second quarter, would turn the company around from a loss in last year's first half.
