Gale International has appointed Jones Lang LaSalle as the sole leasing agent for what will be Korea’s tallest building - the Northeast Asia Trade Tower.

The $500m (£250m) building will be the first commercial office tower to be built in the International Business District in the $25bn (£13.5bn) New Songdo City, Incheon, South Korea.

The 65-storey tower will comprise 1.3m sq ft and rise more than 1,000 ft above the Yellow Sea. It is being developed on 1,500 acres of reclaimed land along Incheon’s waterfront. There will be a 200-room hotel on the top 20 floors of the tower.

It has been designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates. Parties in the venture include Gale, Posco and Daewoo International. Construction started in February this year and is scheduled to complete in 2009.
