Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Japan’s biggest bank, is cutting 2,000 jobs at its head office and closing 50 branches amid a deepening economic crisis in its home market.
MUFG said the move was not a restructuring, but was aimed at “realising the benefits of integration”, following its creation through the merger of two banks and their affiliated financial institutions in 2006.
