Redrow Regeneration has received approval for the second phase of its Barking Central scheme in east London

The London Thames Gateway Development Corporation has given the go-ahead for the £100m scheme, which comprises 272 new homes, 21,000 sq ft of offices and 18,500 sq ft of retail on the former Whites lemonade factory site.

The scheme also features 3 acres of new public open space.

The consented plans comprise five new buildings of varying height designed by architect AHMM, including an 18-storey tower.

Redrow will start on site for phase two at the end of July.

This phase adds to the first phase of Barking Central, which is now complete and comprises 246 flats, a public library and a learning centre for Barking and Dagenham Council.
