Property Week has compiled three maps of public sector properties that are either up for sale or have been declared surplus.

1. Government property sales

The first was put together from information provided by the Government Property Unit, via a Freedom of Information response. It is known to be the beginnings of a much larger list of all planned central government property disposals, currently being formulated in Whitehall.

2. Homes and Communities Agency Register of Surplus Public Sector Land

The second is taken from the Homes and Communities Agency’s Register of Surplus Public Sector land, published in March 2011. Much of the information included here is duplicated in the GPU’s list.

3. Ministry of Justice planned court closures

The third map is drawn from various documents published by the Ministry of Justice, showing more than 100 Magistrates and County Courts, many of them co-located, that are going to close.

The government is still deciding on how to dispose of the freeholds, but many of them are likely to be sold if buyers can be found.
