Property Awards 2009 winners announced!
12.09.08
Royal Bank of Scotland and former British Land chief executive Stephen Hester was last night named Property Personality of the Year for the second time
Hester, who also won the award in 2006, received the award in front of 1,000 people at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel.
He was chosen by the members of the 350-strong Property Awards Academy after leaving British Land to attempt to rescue RBS from a reckless expansion that saw it make a £28bn 2008 loss and come close to nationalization.
Other major winners included Derwent London (Property Company of the Year); Hammerson (Developer of the Year); Threadneedle (Property Fund Manager of the Year) and Canary Wharf Group (Deal of the Year, for JP Morgan’s move to Docklands). CB Richard Ellis won the Investment Agency Team and the Industrial Agency Team prizes.
