Boris backs LandSecs’ £1bn Victoria plans

13:03 | 03.07.09

London Mayor Boris Johnson has given his approval for Land Securities’ £1bn plans for the Victoria Transport Interchange scheme in London’s Victoria.

In a letter to Westminster planners, Johnson said he would withdraw his previous objection following Land Securities’ pledge of £1.2m towards Crossrail.

Westminster Council gave planning to the scheme in February and finalised the approval last month.

Councillor Alastair Moss, chairman of the planning and city development committee, said: ‘The council has been a long standing advocate of the need to carry out significant changes to Victoria and are confident the proposals we have already passed will see the area radically improved.’

The Secretary of State may still consider the application.
