Cambridge has clinched the top spot in a ranking of the fastest-growing UK town and city economies in Q1 2018, produced by Irwin Mitchell and the Centre for Economics and Business Research (Cebr).
The UK Powerhouse report found that Cambridge produced gross value-added (GVA) growth of 2.6% in the year to the end of March. Ipswich (2.5%) and Reading ranked second and third, with the latter tied on 2.4% with Milton Keynes, Norwich and Peterborough.
According to Irwin Mitchell, the Cambridge-Milton Keynes-Oxford corridor is one of the UK’s biggest growth hotspots.
