Editor: On behalf of LandAid, we want to say thank you for the support of the industry on the launch of First Step, our three-year strategy to provide 1,000 beds for homeless young people and to facilitate £1m of pro bono work every year by 2023.

As we launched our refreshed Pro Bono Programme with founding partners JLL, Savills and Newcore – and Property Week as our media partner – we are grateful for the opportunity to take stock of what has been an extraordinary industry response to an historic and hugely challenging year.

Youth homelessness was exacerbated by the Covid crisis; and the response via the Emergency Fund, launched with partners Helical, Knight Frank, M&G and Savills, resulted in more than £1m given out via 106 grants to 79 charities.

Our sector broke fundraising records and came out in droves to help LandAid continue its mission over the past 12 months – this year’s SleepOut raised £400,000 and counting.

The need remains urgent and the launch of First Step is the necessary industry response to making real change – with thanks to Carter Jonas, Grainger and Knight Frank, the founding partners for this new strategy.

The past year has seen tremendous challenges, but equally it has seen a tremendous response from the industry, so as restrictions ease and we start to return to normality, we look forward to welcoming you all along on the next step of this journey.
