FTSE hits record high on the back of weakened pound

The FTSE 100 had a record breaking day on Monday reaching an intra-day high of 7868 points, buoyed by a fall in the pound.

The blue chip index rose 1.03% to close at 7859.17, as sterling dropped 0.28% against the dollar to $1.3431.
