Berkeley claims London exodus during pandemic will not last as annual profit nudges up

Upmarket housebuilder Berkeley has dismissed the current boom in demand from buyers looking for larger homes outside London during the pandemic claiming it does not “represent a permanent structural shift”.

The group produced a 2.9% rise in annual pre-tax profit for the year to April 30 to £518.1m as revenue increased 14.7% to £2.2bn.
