Sainsbury's shares jump on merger talks with Asda

Sainsbury’s shares rose 14.53% to 309.00p on the FTSE 100 on Monday after news of its on-going merger discussions with Asda broke over the weekend.

 The owners of Sainsbury’s and Asda have vowed to continue to operate their full combined estate of 2,800 stores across the UK having agreed terms for a merger deal.
