We may be midway through the first quarter of a new year, but 2022 already feels similar to 2021.

The government is still embroiled in controversy, we are still living under the cloud of Covid (although there is slightly more light at the end of the tunnel), inflation continues to soar… and the industrial and logistics sector keeps on booming.

Despite setting all manner of new records last year, the sector does not look as though it is going to cool down any time soon. Indeed, its biggest challenge is that it is becoming a victim of its own success, as availability of stock and suitable development sites continues to fall, thwarting attempts to capitalise on pent-up demand – particularly from logistics occupiers.

These issues – and many more – will be explored in detail at Property Week’s upcoming Industrial & Logistics Conference & Showcase, which takes place on 4-5 May at Hilton London Syon

Park. Mark Easton, home editor of BBC News, is returning to chair the event, which boasts a stellar line-up of speakers and a jam-packed agenda. Unlike last year, when we had to hold the event virtually due to the pandemic, in 2022 we are back in the room!
