Some landlords and retailers believe the system is being used as a way of getting out of store leases.

As yet more companies have begun to take the controversial route in an attempt to slash their oversized property estates and return to profitability, a growing number of landlords and retailers have railed against the practice, arguing that it is cynically being misused by financially stable retailers to get out of store leases they signed as part of over-ambitious expansion plans.

But how likely are these threats to translate into action and force changes to CVA practice?
