Eight months on, a new report by a quartet of architectural firms looks seriously at how the idea of “more, better, faster” could be harnessed to achieve the government’s ambitions.

‘Distinctively Local’ is a 111-page analysis by Pollard Thomas Edwards, HTA, Proctor & Matthews Architects and PRP of what they claim are “distinctively local” new developments containing high-quality architecture, which residents are proud to call home.

The schemes range from quirky self-build communities in Scotland to big projects by major housebuilders that the authors say avoid the soulless feel of many newbuild properties.
