The meme, which went viral, was doctored to fit many a town across the UK, and despite the insinuation, Burgess Hill isn’t a rough area. Locals found it funny because it fit Burgess Hill’s reputation as a rather boring town somewhere north of Brighton that no-one, other than its residents, had any reason to go to

But now, with commercial and residential developments totalling £1bn of investment set to come forward over the next 15 years, that could soon change.
