Raise a glass for Mathieu Roland-Billecart. Metropolis has learned that the Frenchman, who was a partner in the real estate corporate finance team at EY, has returned to his homeland to join the family firm – the champagne house Billecart-Salmon.

Roland-Billecart is set to take over as the head of the business in January, making him the seventh generation of the family to lead the firm.

It promises to be a big year for Billecart-Salmon as it is 200 years since the house was founded by Nicolas François Billecart and his wife Elisabeth Salmon.

To celebrate the milestone, a special bicentenary cuvée sourced from eight grand crus is being launched.

Thankfully, wine lovers in London’s property industry won’t have to go too far to pick up a bottle as Mayfair wine merchant Hedonism will reportedly be stocking it.

They will need deep pockets, mind. The magnums are expected to go on sale for £1,400 a pop.
