An investor relations director from Tritax is due to row, row, row her boat – not so much gently down the stream but across the Atlantic Ocean.

Mothership crew

In December, Jo Blackshaw’s Mothership crew, formed with three other women, will take part in the Tritax Big Box REIT-sponsored Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge, which entails rowing 3,000 miles from La Gomera in the Canary Islands all the way to Antigua.

The Mothership crew will set sail in a 29ft boat named Mrs Nelson. They aim to complete the journey in 45 days, racing against 36 other teams, and are raising funds for Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice and Felix Fund.

“To put it into perspective, more people have climbed Everest than have rowed an ocean!” said Blackshaw. “The first all-female crew completed the crossing in 67 days, so we are hoping to beat that record.”

Good luck, ladies!
