If there’s a haunted pub in your neighbourhood, who you gonna call? Paul Fosh Auctions! OK, it hasn’t got quite the same ring as ‘Ghostbusters!’, but later this month the Newport-based auction house is selling the Hanbury Arms in Pontypool, which is said to offer more than the usual range of spirits.

A former manager of the pub, which has a selection of coffins in the cellar and is currently home to local rugby club Pontypool RFC, claims to have heard whispers coming from the empty cellar and refused to enter certain parts of the pub alone. The souls of a little girl and a small boy in Victorian dress are also said to be regulars.

“The refurbished pub has a well-documented history of paranormal goings-on over the years, with one particular legend concerning nineteenth-century hangings in the building and the appearance of a former executioner,” says surveyor Debra Bisley, who is handling the sale for Paul Fosh Auctions.

The property features a cellar, ground-floor bar area and first-floor apartment, plus four additional bedrooms. It is listed with a not-so-scary guide price of £140,000-plus and will be offered for sale at the online auction, which runs from 27-29 April.
