In the run-up to Christmas, shopping centre pop-up shops tend to pop up all over the place.
Normally landlords lease voids to seasonal retailers like calendar shops, but The Galleries in Bristol has gone one step further, offering space to Avon & Somerset Police for a special ‘Cop Shop’.
Since it opened in late November, the pop-up – which is manned by officers offering advice on crime prevention, home security and personal safety – has attracted almost 4,000 visitors, a number that many retail occupiers would be satisfied with at this time of year.
Hordes of shoppers have been drawn to the pop-up thanks to the free advice on offer. But Metropolis suspects that drugs dog Kos – seen here inspecting a police car’s engine – is the main attraction.
