The nation may have been in the grip of World Cup fever in July, but SHB Real Estate did its best to remind us that cricket is the traditional British summer sport with the inaugural SHB Big Bash for Charity, held at the Oval last month.

Property Week is media partner of the tournament, which brought together eight teams of agents, advisers and planners to battle on the same field where England began their recent one-day whitewash of Australia.

PW’s Mohamed Shaikh and Ben Dombrandt were members of the Oktra team, which successfully navigated the five-over group stages to make it to the final.

Wicketkeeper Dombrandt was retired not out on multiple occasions for making more than the maximum 25 runs players were allowed per game, while Shaikh proved a top wicket taker.

Unfortunately Team Oktra fell just short in a thriller of a final against the City Agents team, despite a flurry of sixes in a frantic run chase.

The City Agents claimed the title in the first-ever SHB Big Bash

The tournament’s charity Hope for Children raised additional money for every six hit throughout the day with the event notching up more than £30,000.

Having broken new boundaries at this year’s event, SHB has pledged to make next year’s big bash even bigger, better and, fittingly, ‘bashier’.
