Some people are just destined to work in retail, either because they have a can-do attitude or because they have an eye for what shoppers want.
Sometimes, though, it is all about the name. That was the case this week when Shoe Zone’s outgoing finance director – the aptly named Peter Foot – was replaced by the even more aptly named Terry Boot.
It was not made clear why Foot walked away from the role, but Boot was clearly a shoo-in for the job either way. His career includes stints at Brantano and Jones Bootmaker.
Property Eye did not see the shortlist of applicants, so can only speculate as to who else was on it. Meghan Trainer or David Sole? Clearly, the shoe didn’t fit. It’s Boot’s camp now.
