Then housing minister Robert Jenrick revealed new measures to improve building safety standards – including the creation of a new building safety regulator and publishing consolidated guidance for building owners.
The government also consulted on extending the ban on using ACM cladding to buildings below 18m.
This week, the government said new legislation would protect leaseholders from the costs of all post-Grenfell building safety defects – meaning leaseholders in buildings of between 11m and 18.5m will no longer be expected to take out personal loans to cover the cost of removing cladding.
