Trafford Council has approved Maloneview’s £70m regeneration plans for The Square Shopping centre in Sale, Manchester.

The mixed-use scheme comprises 36,597 sq ft of retail and leisure space, a six-screen cinema and up to 202 new residential units.

The scheme aims to boost the town’s economy by delivering hundreds of new jobs.

Planning associate at Barton Willmore, which is advising Maloneview, Ben Shaw said: “This is excellent news for Sale. The regeneration of this key town centre site will secure its future as a thriving retail and leisure destination delivering new and improved restaurants and cafés.”

“The mix of new homes provides a positive contribution towards the borough’s housing needs, whilst the regeneration will bring over 190 new jobs to the town. This alongside, significant improvements and additions to the public realm will make Sale more accessible and desirable for the local community and drive visitors to the town ensuring it’s success.”
