North East England's best loved landmark, The Angel of the North, has been lit up for the first time in a decade.

Antony Gormley's sculpture in Gateshead was this week bathed in white light to celebrate its 10th birthday. It was last lit up in 1998 to celebrate its installation and the start of a cultural renaissance across the region.

It was a one-off event and there are no plans to light it up again.
