Anthropologie, the US fashion brand owned by Urban Outfitters, has signed up for its debut store in the UK on London’s Regent Street.

It has signed up for a 11,000 sq ft shop at 158 Regent Street from landlord the Crown Estate.

As revealed by Property Week in August 2007, Anthropologie has been searching for a flagship London store ahead of a roll out in the UK.

It sells women’s fashion, accessories, homewares and antiques. The three level store will open in Regent Street by Christmas.

David Shaw, head of Regent Street strategy and development at The Crown Estate, said: ‘Even in this challenging market Regent Street continues to attract the world’s most successful brands and we are delighted to welcome Anthropologie to Regent Street’s mile of style.’

James Bidwell, managing director at Anthropologie Europe, said: ‘The Regent Street site will be set in one of the most dynamic and vital shopping districts in Europe. We are working hard to build small, talented buying, store and visual teams to ensure we create an amazing experience for our customers when we open our first store on Regent Street later this year.’

Anthropologie has 120 Anthropologie stores.
