The northwest developer has selected HKR Architect’s designs for the redevelopment of the former Brown Bros. warehouse and brewery site.

The plans for the mixed-use scheme include offices, a hotel, a residential element, public space and uses for an “active” ground floor. The site was originally used as an industrial mill in the late 19th Century and is located at the junction of Chapel Street and Trinity Way in Central Salford.

Carol Ainscow, chairman and chief executive of Artisan, said: ‘The Brown Bros. Building brings Artisan to Salford for the first time and we believe that this development will be a major part of the city’s ongoing regeneration.’

Artisan, which has a turnover of around £60m, has other mixed-use developments in Manchester, Liverpool, Sheffield, Bradford and Huddersfield.
