The town of Ashford, Kent hosted a developers briefing last week to unveil its proposals for its £2.5bn development strategy.

The town’s plans include the development of 31,000 homes and 2m sq ft of commercial space.

The ‘Ashford: On the Right Track’ event was held last week at The British Library Conference Centre in London with speakers including Judith Armitt, managing director of Ashford’s Future; Robyn Pyle, head of urban community development at Land Securities, and Emma Goodford, partner at Knight Frank.

Ashford will benefit from the launch of high-speed domestic rail services in 2009, which will cut the journey time to London to just 37 minutes.

Property investors and companies in attendance at the event included St Modwen Properties, Stanhope and ING Real Estate.
