Basildon District Council is to select a development partner for the £120m regeneration of Wickford town centre

The council announced today its decision to select a partner for the regeneration of six development zones in Wickford, approved by the Wickford Town Centre masterplan last February.

Although the size of the scheme has not been decided, most of the development will be retail.

A notice is expected to be posted on the Official Journal of the European Union this summer. This will follow the appointment of a project manager to co-ordinate the selection.

The preferred developer is expected to be picked by November this year and will work alongside Basildon Renaissance Partnership and the council to deliver the scheme.
