Icelandic investment company Baugur is planning a drive into Germany. Sunday Telegraph. Sunday Times

The owner of UK retailers including House of Fraser, Hamleys and Oasis hopes to open up to 300 concessions of its clothing brands – such as Karen Millen, Jane Norman and Principles – in German department stores over the next three to five years.

Baugur has formed a joint venture, Arctic, to help it secure the sites and set up deals with German retailers.

Baugur chief executive Gunnar Sigurdsson said: ‘The idea is that through Arctic we take our brands and open them in Germany. We could also possibly open concessions for brands outside the Baugur group.’

The model cold later be replicated in India.
