A detailed planning application to redevelop BBC Scotland’s headquarters in Glasgow was today submitted to Glasgow City Council
QMD Glasgow, a company formed by Applecross, Esk Properties and Blackrock International Land, wants to redevelop the 5.3 acre site on Queen Margaret Drive in Glasgow’s west end for residential use and a hotel.
Applecross and Blackrock International Land will undertake the residential element of the development, which comprises 185 flats and 3 townhouses with frontages to both Hamilton Drive and the River Kelvin.
The conversion and adaptation of the existing listed buildings will be undertaken by Esk Properties and Blackrock International Land to create an 85-bed hotel.
The BBC is a joint applicant in the planning application, having occupied the site since 1936. It is moving to Glasgow’s 365,976 sq ft (34,000 sq m) Pacific Quay development later this year.
