An internet company backed by Godfrey Bradman, the property magnate behind the Broadgate office complex development, has gone into administration. Financial Times
Bradman raised £2.25m from investors, including Sir Mark Weinberg, the financier and St James’s Place president, to invest in Canine Corporation – a website that boasted that it was ‘the world’s first company run by dogs, for dogs’.
Andrew Burke, a former BT Entertainment executive, was head of Canine Corp, which spent almost £5m on the website. However, the administrators were called when a £10m funding deal with a newspaper publisher fell through and, as at August, the company had a total deficiency of more than £6.7m.
