Bristol’s magistrates court is to dispose of its Nelson Street court.

The court operation will be relocating to a new purpose built building on Marlborough Street, adjacent to Bristol’s main bus station, in December.

The Nelson Street court building, being sold through Lambert Smith Hampton, is within the Nelson Street Regeneration Area which has been identified by the City Council as a key area for redevelopment.

The site could accommodate approximately 75,500 sq ft of gross floor area over four to nine floors and uses could include residential, hotel, office and retail.

The area, between the new retail development at Cabot Circus and the harbourside, has seen a number of developers invest in the area including Urban Splash’s purchase of the Bridewell island site and the ongoing sale of New Bridewell Street Police Station.
