A 14th-century building being renovated by Damien Hirst, the artist, was deluged with floodwater yesterday when a canal burst its banks. Daily Telegraph

The Thames and Severn Canal breached near Stroud, Glos, swamping Chalford Place.

Water rushed down the canal banks and builders working at the property spent the day moving sandbags to redirect water.

Hirst’s builders then stepped in to help save the historic Roundhouse building nearby, which is the home of archivist Lorna Parker.
