The waiting is over for another year, but Birmingham has not given up on winning more Michelin stars

Good-quality restaurants are seen as a significant advantage by developers when trying to attract high-profile tenants to the city.

Last week there were hopes that the city would add two further Michelin-starred restaurants to its tally of three: Purnell’s on Cornwall Street, Simpsons on Highfield Road and Turners of Harbone on High Street.

When the Michelin guide was published earlier this month, Birmingham had no further additions. For now the hotly tipped Opus (pictured) on Cornwall Street and Loves on Canal Street will have to hope their culinary delights impress the judges next time.
