The average business premises lease has fallen to 5.7 years, according to the annual review by the British Property Federation. Daily Telegraph
BPF said landlords were responding to tighter market conditions by negotiating shorter leases with tenants, bringing the average down from 6.2 years.
If lease break clauses were taken into account, the BPF said, retail leases fell from 7.8 to 7 years, office leases from 5.7 to 5.2 years and the average for industrial premises remained 4.2 years.
