The Canadian government is to bring a Mayfair building to the market with a price tag of £300m. Financial Times
The High Commission building Macdonald House, at 1-3 Grosvenor Square, is on a long lease from Grosvenor. The 130,000 sq ft former US embassy, was bought in 1959.
The Canadian government would prefer to do a property ‘swap’ rather than an outright sale and plans to move its staff to a modern, smaller building of 70,000-100,000 sq ft nearer to Canada House in Trafalgar Square.
