Nick and Christian Candy were the victims of a property swindle by a gang now aged between 62 and 71.

The Candy brothers, and their bank HBOS, paid £6.5million for an overgrown 47-acre site in Berkshire, which the four men pretended to own, forging paperwork to pull off the scam.

Details of the crime emerged after the men were each jailed last week for up to six years for their “white collar” fraud. Judge Nicholas Wood, sitting at Reading Crown Court, expressed his disappointment at seeing elderly men committing such a crime.
