Chairman of CB Richard Ellis’s regional business Julian Shellard will retire this year after 34 years with the business.

Shellard, who was an executive director at CBRE, worked out of the Birmingham office for the last 15 years.

Mike Strong, chairman of CBRE EMEA, said: ‘He has made an enormous contribution to the achievements of CB Richard Ellis and played an instrumental role in the development and success of our regional business.

'Julian is very well known and popular figure in the property industry and I am sure he will not disappear from the scene at all.’

Shellard said: ‘It has been a joy to be part of the business here in Birmingham that I inherited in 1993, when there were only nine of us. Now it is some 84 people with an enviable reputation in the city.

‘However, I will not be leaving the industry or Birmingham totally – I have too many friends in both, so I plan to do some consultancy work in the future, which I hope will allow me to work with and help my former colleagues and clients whether in Birmingham or throughout the UK.’
