Cinven, which bought a treatment centre and 25 hospitals rom BUPA, is also considering a range of new business opportunities, including a push into the rapidly growing British market for cosmetic surgery.

The UK cosmetic surgery market grew by about 53% last year and is worth more than £500m a year.

Jean-Jacques de Gorter, Spire’s director of clinical services, said Spire may also seek to boost revenues by opening small injury clinics at some of its hospitals and seeking to win contracts to perform work for local NHS primary care trusts.
