Philip Burks, co-founder and property director of Big Yellow, the FTSE 250 self storage company, is leaving his executive role at the company.

Today’s announcement marks the end of a six-month transfer of Burks’ responsibilities to Andrew Watson, the group’s newly appointed director of property. Watson will head a team of five in charge of Big Yellow’s property strategy, while Nicholas Vetch, the group’s executive chairman, will take up responsibility for property matters at board level.

Vetch, Big Yellow chairman and co-founder, said: ‘I have been in business with Philip for 21 years and it has been unequivocally and without exception, the best of partnerships. Although I will miss his day to day involvement, I am grateful he will continue to make available his contacts, experience and advice.’
