The Co-operative Group posted a record performance from its food retailing business, following a store makeover programme. The Guardian
Like-for-like food sales grew 5.2% in the 28 weeks to 28 July. The food business, which accounts for more than 40% of group sales, grew profits 17% to £64.4m, with a 15% sales uplift from refitted stores.
The Co-op is rebranding 590 of its 2,300 stores this year.
