Cushman & Wakefield has poached Colliers CRE director Scott Rutherford to head up its office agency and development team in Birmingham, Property Week has learnt

Rutherford, who has 18 years' experience of the UK office leasing and development market, relocated from London to Birmingham in April 2006 to head Colliers CRE’s office leasing and development team. Before joining Colliers, he served as a director at Gooch Webster.

The appointment consolidates Cushman’s position in the crucial Midlands property market. Successes include taking a joint-advisory role to the Birmingham Alliance on the Bullring; advising Carlyle Group on the £150m acquisition of Colmore Plaza; and securing the position of letting agent on Arlington’s and Birmingham City Council’s Venture East. The firm also advised on the disposal of the Browns Lane Jaguar site.

Cushman & Wakefield aims to secure an office in the City centre and be fully operational by the end of this year.

Adrian Hill, head of Cushman’s national office agency team, will oversee the expansion programme in Birmingham and will be responsible for heading the office.
