Countryside Properties and Quintain have achieved the go-ahead for their £250m City Park Gate mixed-use development in Birmingham, it was revealed this morning.

Planning officials from Birmingham City Council granted outline planning consent for the 7-acre mixed use scheme at a meeting last night.

The Ken Shuttleworth-designed scheme is tipped to become a focal point of the city’s 10-year, £6bn Eastside regeneration zone.

Proposals include around 800 apartments, of which 25% will be affordable homes, 300,000 sq ft of office space, a 151,000 sq ft hotel, around 99,000 sq ft of retail space including a food store of around 52,000 sq ft.

Construction is expected to start on-site in early 2008 and is due to complete within three years.
