Superdry is the latest retailer asking landlords for a three month rent holiday, beginning 1 April.

The retailer announced in a trading statement that it was in negotiations with landlords to secure rental relief as a result of the ongoing disruption caused by coronavirus.

Footfall at its stores slumped by 25% week-on-week across stores in the UK and US.

“This is an extraordinary time for all of us,” said Julian Dunkerton, chef executive of Superdry in the letter.

“To further assist in preserving existing liquidity and to help with cash flow, we are proposing to postpone all rent payments for three months from 1 April 2020 and then review the position. We sincerely hope that you understand our reasons for doing this and will be supportive.”
