Stratford-upon-Avon and Liverpool-based Blok Properties is to develop a new office development aimed at creative businesses in Birmingham.
The developer has started work on a scheme on Heath Mill Lane, opposite the Custard Factory in Digbeth.
The £2.4m building – called Rhubarb – will comprise 18 self-contained office studios.
Each studio will be a self-contained office, and Blok’s directors, Martin Saxon and Piers Harding, hope that this will encourage businesses to buy their own property instead of renting.
Saxon said: 'Digbeth has a thriving creative industries sector. The migration of companies to the area has, however, resulted in a lack of high quality, design-led office accommodation. Blok aim to deliver functional, and affordable Workspace.’
Work on the development is expected to be completed in January 2009.
Wareing & Co has been appointed as agent.
